DHA is the most powerful bronzer and can extend your tan by up to 7 days. Because DHA is colourless, even white products can contain a DHA-bronzer. For the best results: spread evenly, clean your hands after use and wait at least 4 hours before showering. 

2. Natural bronzer

This bronzer comes from natural ingredients, such as coconut, nuts and berries. It creates a gradual, natural-looking tan that stays visible for several days longer. It also leaves no streaks or stains.

3. Cosmetic bronzer

This bronzer instantly gives your skin a beautiful tan, so you see results straight away. The colour acts as a temporary ‘foundation’ and washes off in the shower. The visible colour also helps you apply the cream evenly.

Tip: Well-cared-for, hydrated skin keeps your tan looking beautiful for longer. Apply a good moisturiser to your skin every day.

A DHA bronzer needs 4–8 hours to bind to the proteins in the epidermis and develop a beautiful tan.

So wait at least 4 hours before showering. The longer you wait, the more intense the final result. For a deeper, more intense tan, we recommend waiting 8 hours before showering.

The color you see washing off in the shower is the cosmetic bronzer. It instantly gives you a lovely tan and helps you apply the product evenly.

If you have waited 4 hours before showering, the DHA-bronzer will have done its job. You can then safely wash off the cosmetic bronzer: the tan that has developed will remain.

You generally use SPF outdoors because UV radiation from the sun can vary greatly and cannot be adjusted to suit your skin type. This means the risk of sunburn is greater outdoors. With a tanning bed, the session is tailored to your skin type and a maximum time is set.

You can also use SPF on a tanning bed, for example to give specific areas such as scars, dark spots or tattoos extra protection. Keep in mind that SPF reduces UV exposure and therefore also reduces tanning in that area.

Devoted Creations tanning lotions can also be used outdoors in the sun, but they do not offer protection against UV radiation. Always combine your lotion with a sunscreen with an SPF suited to your skin type.

Also keep in mind the bronzers in the formula. When exposed to sunlight outdoors, these may be more likely to cause uneven color or transfer onto clothing or swimwear. Apply the product thoroughly and evenly, and allow it to absorb fully.
